How to write a letter to a politician!

Do you have a local issue you’d like to bring to your local government? Or maybe something that affects all Canadians that you want the Prime Minister to know about? Use this standard form to get an idea of how to tell your politicians exactly what you’re thinking – you can change the wording, or rewrite the entire thing in your own words! Remember that politicians are there to work for you, even if you didn’t directly vote for them. You are the one with all the power to be heard! You can use the form below, or just write whatever you’re thinking, and email it directly to the MP / mayor / politician in question! Find their email address by going to their website and clicking on their CONTACT US page.

Dear [Mr/Ms Politician’s last name – for example: Dear Ms Chow]

[this is where you introduce yourself]

[this is where you write about your project / concern / issue – 1 or 2 short paragraphs]

[this is where you explain what you WANT TO SEE CHANGE! What do you want your politician to do?]

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely

[Your name]
