How to Hold an Information Session!

There are so many issues that are misrepresented by the media, or that the general public just doesn’t have enough information about. Are you interested in the Burqa Ban in Quebec and want to spread the information to people in Scarborough? An information session is a really great way to encourage people to think critically about an issue, and get people talking!

How to:
1. Research your issue!
2. Make some pamphlets, fliers, zines, postcards, etc explaining your issue. Depending on the issue, you might be able to find pre-made pamphlets and fliers, so google your issue & look around at some other sites first! For example, if you want to spread info about sexual health for teens, there’s lots of sites that have info on that exact subject!
3. Find a space that makes sense for your cause! If you’re talking about keeping neighbourhoods in your area safe, you might want to hold an information session inside or closeby your school (if you can, ask your school to give you a space for the information session, and make an announcement about when / where it’s happening!)
4. Make sure your information session takes place somewhere that already has a lot of foot traffic! A mall, a sidewalk on a main street, your mosque - somewhere that you’ll be able to hand out a lot of pamphlets!
